How does the ticket work?

The Amsterdam Travel Ticket is a paper smart card. Use it to check in at the start, and to check out at the end of every trip with bus, tram, metro and train. The map that accompanies the ticket contains an explanation of how the system works.

Where is the ticket valid?

Train
With the Amsterdam Travel Ticket, you can travel 2nd class in the train to and from Schiphol Amsterdam Airport to any of the following stations in Amsterdam: Amstel, Bijlmer ArenA, Central Station, Holendrecht, Lelylaan, Muiderpoort, RAI, Sciencepark, Sloterdijk, Zuid, Duivendrecht.

Tram, bus, metro, ferry

The ticket is valid on all trams, buses, night buses, metros and ferries run by the Amsterdam transport company GVB. You can recognise them by the white and blue colours. GVB operates an extensive network covering the whole of Amsterdam.
For travelling to and from Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam city centre you can take bus 197 (Amsterdam Airport Express).
At night this is bus line N97.

From what time is the ticket valid?

The ticket is valid from the first time you check in until 04:00 hours after the last valid day (depending on whether you have the 1-, 2- or 3-day variant). The day starts at 00.00 hours (midnight).

For example: If you check in with the 2-day ticket from midnight onwards on Wednesday, your ticket will be valid until 04:00 hours on Friday morning.
